Strong suspicion that it was a pile of HDPE pipe being stored underneath that somehow ignited
FBI has stated there is no evidence of foul play or this being an intentional act.
As an engineer, my guess is that the fire was so hot it caused the reinforcing steel inside the bridge to begin failing. Concrete doesn't "melt".
