recounting a doctor's experience in Aleppo. I'm going to C/P a paragraph. I'm still shaken by it. Meanwhile, we're not going to do anything...

"In a calm, matter-of-fact manner, Dr. F told the standing-room-only crowd in the XXXXXX about delivering babies with serious injuries caused by shrapnel that had penetrated the mother’s uterus and lodged in the unborn child. Dr. A showed images of individuals with gruesome facial and eye injuries and played a video depicting a neurosurgical procedure performed on the floor because that was the only spot available. Dr. R described crumbling facades and hospital wards with bomb shells and casings embedded in the walls. Usually considered safe havens in wartime, hospitals in Syria have become targets. Physicians and other health care workers have also been targeted. Rajab’s M10 hospital, in fact, was bombed 22 times, and even when it was relocated underground, it was hit several more times by “bunker-buster” bombs and deadly canisters of chlorine gas. The physicians told the heartbreaking story of an orthopedic surgeon friend who died just this week following a gas attack on an underground hospital where he was operating – he had refused to abandon his patient in the middle of surgery."
