The LPGA Tour has a full-blown insane issue regarding their first major of the year.

woman leading by 2 shots with only 9 holes left
a TV viewer calls in to report a rules infraction from the day prior.
LPGA concurs with the violation and penalizes her *4* shots (2 for the rule, 2 for a new issue of signing an incorrect scorecard)
She is now trailing by 2 shots.
---
Incredibly, under older rules, she would have been DQ'ed for signing the incorrect scorecard but still. A TV viewer at home calls in 24 hours later and impacts the tournament.
This stuff is ridiculous.

In trying to google the actual rules to see if there is something about self reporting, I came across this article and this is apparently not new -- (edited)

I've seen rules infractions reported by viewers before, but always at the time of the event.

It makes a certain kind of sense, but only if the game of golf is to be held to a completely unrealistic standard -- (edited)
