In response to "Remlik, you can't rely just on old-timers to fuel your business. " by Callisto Buffalomeat

If Marvel and DC do nothing, they die through attrition of their fanbase. If they adapt, then they at least try to appeal to a wider swath of demos. -- (edited)

I don't expect that second adjustment to happen quickly either from Marvel and DC or their target audiences.

And Reagen's point about "here, read our 800 book crossover, mega-event extravaganza"is one of the reasons I haven't read a Marvel book in 10 years or a DC book in almost as long.

I'd be reading a title and then an issue or two would continue a story from another title I wasn't reading.

But Image is putting out great stuff and so is Boom. Fantastic stories without worrying about ediitorial insisting on maintaining the staus quo for the lead character or trying to get title A to cross over with Title B.

It's a much more satisfying reading experience and the creative teams and characters represent a much greater diversity in viewpoint, too.
