Re: Marvel Comics sales. I'm less of the opinion that diversity is hurting. Flavorize is much closer to the truth.

I submit for your consideration this opinion:
It's the dense mythology. It's the reason DC rebooted (twice now). Too much mythology, too much back story, too much history. Granted, that ties into the diversity. You have to know a character to understand what's happening and why there's a girl wearing Iron Man armor or Spider-man is Latino. None of these things are bad, in my opinion. I loved the rich mythology of the DC universe and was livid when they rebooted. I abandoned them immediately. Marvel, while mocking DC's reboots, went the other way and packed all their timelines into one universe. For someone who is a casual reader or, God forbid, a new reader, this is impenetrable. For me, this is what DCU used to be, and I'm enraptured by what Marvel is doing.
