The U.S. Senate does not offer uniform leave policies. It's up to each individual Senator to determine the leave policies for their office.
Oh, and we get 5 days of bereavement leave, too, and sick leave carries over from year to year.
I had a whole bunch saved up, then spent almost all of it on helping my parents when my step-dad was diagnosed with cancer. I think I burned through 40 days of sick leave in two years.
Currently have 19 days of sick leave in the bank.
