do we think I could live without a car for a while? I have a systemwide bus pass and now live on a year round full-service bus route (R)
|
which means that unlike at my old apartment, I have daily summer bus service until at least 11:00pm. On every day but sunday year round, I have the HP, which is just an amazing bus (if infrequent, especially in summer).
also during the schoolyear, I have the RP and the RC within a four minute walk.
there is a grocery store 11 minutes' walk from my house.
if I can't catch a bus to downtown, those stops are no more than 25 minutes' walk from my house.
from downtown, I can transfer to anywhere.
all of this bussing is free.
I drive about once per week now (generally). I've been kind of trying not to drive to see if I could. some days I'm lazy; usually not.
I can rent a car with university discount for times I want to go away. this costs about $40 per day.
would you try this? or am I crazy?

I've been doing it for ten years now -- without a single problem or regret.
