Anyone who knows Washington well or been there recently, We're stopping in Richmond Saturday night

and are planning just a 5 hour drive the next day so we have some hours free on Sunday. My thought was to see some of the National Mall, as we've both never been I have no idea what to expect. Is it car friendly or more of a public transportation city? Is it remotely possible that I would find parking close enough or easy enough?

Is this just a horrible idea without more planning...?

    - Ugh. The area around Lenfent Plaza is a desolate brutalist landscape. It'll be a 15 minute walk looking at concrete. -- nm - Mop Apr 7, 19:39 1
