(Sorry, I switched the words plantiff/defense in my earlier post)

as it's been explained to me:
The defense should provide a rep to sit at the table during the length of the trial. My boss doesn't want to be there for 2 weeks so it falls me because I'm the most (non-legal) knowledgable about the facts.

I have already given a deposition and will likely be called by the defense since I'm the engineer of record.
