I don't get how overbooking is valid.

You are selling more tickets than you have, selling a ticket is sort of a contract - I know they get around this by tiny print but still --

then you end up spending $$$ to accommodate the people you just fucked over so not only are you pissing off people in this instance, but you're giving up more money.
