I have cellular shades in all of my windows (light filtering only, not blackout). they made a HUGE difference in my heating bills this year. -- (edited)

yeah, we have the existing on most of our windows but they've slowly been breaking down, cords breaking, etc. We used to take them to get restrung

I'm really interested in keeping the sun out as it roasts my bedroom in the afternoon. I'd like to avoid putting tinfoil on my windows again. -- nm

thermal works great for this too. people think of it as keeping out the cold, but it also keeps out the heat.
