the problem with a lot of this is that people and airlines assume that giving people money can *always* make it better. it doesn't.

if i am flying to new york because i have Hamilton tickets, and you tell me you can't get me on a plane till tomorrow, but here's a voucher for $800 to fly with that airline later, and a hotel, I DON'T CARE.
And, if you are giving me money, but i will be in shit at work for a month (or lose my job), again, I don't care.
Compensation doesn't just make it better.
This guy's closing paragraph reinforces the belief that money will make anyone happy. I am sure if offered enough money it would have made SOMEONE on the plane happy enough, but it may not work on everyone. Find the person and the price that it will satisfy. Don't assume giving a specific person some sort of travel voucher makes it okay.
