it feels like this is a letter vs spirit of the law distinction that can be made.

I mean in retrospect - would United rather have paid the guy 50K to get off or endure all this publicity.

If I have to show/cancel my dentist appointment 24 hours in advance or be charged a cancellation fee, they should have to declare overbook 24hrs too -- nm
