And I don't want to say that the news citations are slow, but the company being quoted first mentioned this in December as an explanation for why Disney should sell ESPN. They then added in February that Apple should buy Disney anyway.

I considered this old news when I referenced it on March 27. Must be a slow news day. (slackertalk.com)

He had a fundamental misunderstanding of the current direction of televised rights.

A belief exists that Apple wants to buy Disney, but they haven't made an offer since Disney has ESPN. ESPN isn't international enough. The most popular cable network is what's stopping a $250 billion deal from getting done, at least according to some stock analysts.

In response to Remlik: "I also think they thought that when Vince thought NBC/Universal was going to pay near $1 Billion for rights."
