I had that same problem taking a picture yesterday.

I was walking north on 10th/Amsterdam and just kept going for a while. Then I was approaching Cathedral Parkway so kept going, then jotted over to Riverside because I was going to walk back down through the park. Had no idea the Tomb or Riverside Church were there.

Then my phone died so I just took the train home :)
