The noise seems to be relative to Gmail accounts. I enabled unroll.me on Hotmail.

So I'm good? I've deleted my account anyway. But I basically filter all my e-mail through Hotmail and then forward to Gmail. It creates two levels of spam filtering and it's served me well for a long time.
