what use an attorney would have with a computer. Negotiations and closings were done in person. Sending a fax was expensive and printed out on that curving thermal paper so it was rarely used. Documents were stored on floppy disks. Long distance phone calls were expensive. Many legal documents were on printed forms (and you would add riders or draw lines and type things in the margins). Redlining a document was done by hand (and I could bill for it).
