Related to Mel's comment below, this saddened me about "meeting places" where people go.

The Gay Magazine in DC did an article after the Supreme court legalized gay marriage. They interviewed an older couple that had been together something like 35 years. The own a home in Dupont Circle, which sadly used to be the gayborhood. (Tangent - across the country gayborhoods are disappearing and in DC everything moved out of Dupont).
They said that they decided to celebrate, and then left their house that night to meet at the Circle, which always had huge crowds over decades at big moments in gay history. No one was there. They didn't know where anyone was, so they just went home.
