Two German Shepherds, now in protective custody, had been kept in crates in a storage locker with bark collars on them so that they wouldn't make any

noise and alert the staff at the storage facility. Both are underweight, one severely so, and were covered in their own filth when they were brought into the shelter. My volunteers and I just gave them baths and fed them; the filth just came running off when we poured warm water on them to start their baths. Just disgusting.

I'd gone inside our building to get a brush to brush them after drying them off, and one of the ACOs was outside our courtyard with the owners of the dogs telling their fucking sob story. All I really caught of it is something happened, blah blah blah, they hadn't been in the crates inside the storage locker for *that long*, the severely underweight dog just had puppies six months ago and they were trying to keep her weight to about 55lbs, which means 1. they're loser backyard breeders using a 7 year old dog to breed, and 2. full of shit because this dog should be at least 70-75 lbs for her frame.

One of the other volunteers was saying that sometimes she has to try real hard not to judge, and I don't know where it came from but I just said "I'm glad that God loves everyone, so that I don't have to." Yeah, not how that's supposed to work, I know, but times like this...
