Essentially a way to drop things you like into folders. Once you see that you like someone's style you can see their folders.

So my wife has a folder for 'recipes' and one for our daughters room. She used to have one for 'wedding ideas'.
Then you start clicking links and saving them in the appropriate folders. Eventually you realize that certain people have recipes you like or a design style that matches yours. And you go there more and more. It's like following them on Twitter or Facebook but you actually pull content and save it on your profile.
Not sure if that makes it more confusing.
