I'm 30 now, identify as gay, and can say it. But even once I was outed, already going to gay bars, had gay friends, etc. it was still hard to say. I could "act" gay, long before I could utter those words. It was very difficult.
But I will say, when these start moving and as a person you start understanding yourself, it moves quickly.
