If you're expecting members to live where they represent, that means they have to have 2 residences.
The amount might be high, but rents for competent studios in DC start at a grand.

They don't need a luxury place in D.C. They can easily afford rent of say $1,600 a month. That's just under $20k for the year. They still have $154k
