First year was great. Some pretty good names there, especially for a smaller city like Des Moines. Tons of awareness before hand, lots of media coverage. I think the crowd far exceeded their expectations as they announced there'd be another comic con the following year that same weekend. I bought passes right away (you got a discount if you bought early).
Year 2 - I'd say generously the crowds were maybe a third of what they'd been the first year. Maybe less. No really big name/draw, a couple moderate draws - Kevin Sorbo is definitely a Comic Con pro, and Nicholas Brendan from Buffy were good. A random cast member from Walking Dead, one from that Marvel show on ABC.
Year 3 - I didn't even know it was happening until 2 days before! Didn't go though there were a couple people I wouldn't mind seeing, but not much worth going for.
I doubt there'll be a year 4.
