So I've heard of 3-alarm, 4-alarm, 5-alarm etc fires and then all-hands fires. What's the latter?

Like, does it mean everyone in the jurisdiction show up? What if a fire breaks out elsewhere?

Apparently "All Hands" is basically a 1 alarm. -- (link*)

They'll evaluate accordingly, but until ordered, it's all-hands on deck for this.

I expect it is more of a coloquialism than an actual designation. Probably stems from a naval or military type call for "all hands on deck" -- nm
