In response to "That's really wonderful. I have a question along these lines, but it's controversial." by David

I think the labeling (or lack thereof) is a personal choice. -- (edited)

I'm gay. I have zero attraction to women. I have emotionally important relationships with females, but would never see myself in a relationship with a woman. That's my experience.

My brother is in a long term relationship with a man. My brother does not label himself. I don't know if that means he's somewhat bi, or if you just doesn't like being put into a category. That his experience and choice.

Some people are bisexual.

But plenty of people, especially of certain ages, are gay/lesbian but for various reasons (mostly societal and personal acceptance) followed the expected route of marriage and children with the opposite sex. Her ability to bear children doesn't make her being a lesbian any less true, if that's what she knows herself to be.
