As I only know him from elementary, I feel a bit extra sad over this. (Spoils)

They crafted a recurring character with him, but then they couldn't let the character return to his family or see the resolution he desired in his informancy. His character died having accomplished very little, except for committing a cold case murder the writers made up in his final few episodes.
It felt wasted.
