4 day (fastest) - 40 hours, 2750 miles
Day 1: DC to NW IN or Chicago
Day 2: to Fargo, ND
Day 3: to Bozeman, MT
Day 4: to Redmond

(4 day alt: Indianapolis, Iowa, South Dakota)

5 day (7.5-9 hour drives)
Day 1: to NW OH
Day 2: Eau Claire, WI
Day 3: Bismark, ND
Day 4: Butte, MT
Day 5: Redmond

(5 day alt: Indy, La Crosse, Rapid City, Butte)

6 day northern route: OH, WI, SD, WY, MT, Redmond
6 day southern alt: TN, MO, SD, MT, MT, Redmond

7 day scenic (50 hours, 3200 miles)
Day 1: OH/IN
Day 2: Chicago and Rochester, MN
Day 3: Rapid City, SD
Day 4: Mount Rushmore, Deadwood, Devil's Tower, to Billings
Day 5: Beartooth Highway through Northern Yellowstone up through Bozeman, Helena, and to Browning in Blackfeet Indian Reservation
