When we jumped into HD, we didn't get a high-end 1080p set. We got a 720p unit, one of the mini-tube rear projection types that were oversized. Once we decided we loved it, we bought a better set. While I'd like to get a superstar set (and still might), getting my feet wet with a basic 4k unit makes some sense for the same reason.
