The purpose of the meeting was obvious, I think. I wasn't to share intel on Clinton, which they were probably going to do anyway, but to name their price, i.e. sanctions, with people in the room who could give assurances (Kushner and Manafort) while maintaining plausible deniability that anything had taken place.
