exactly. the lack of knowledge in the situation had very little to do with education, more to do with specific exposure.

she could have been non-higher-educated but italian and know the terms of the restaurant. his whole take on the incident (if it really happened), was just so off - he said he was unthinking to take her there, but worse was not helping her learn and letting her feel less-than because of simple lack of exposure.
many highly educated people don't know those meats.
starbucks is a great example of something that's common and yet required all of us who started going there to sound a little dumb at first. nothing to do with schooling/general education.
