My experience wasn't quite as good.

We had about 14-15, I think. All my Pokemon fainted before the Lugia was beaten. I try and just get back in with the pre-selected team since it was almost dead and my app crashed. If this happens, restart the app and click battle. You won't need to use a raid pass and if the boss has been defeated it gives you the rewards and lets you do the bonus challenge.
The good is that I got one of each TM. Unfortunately the Lugia fled.
