In response to "For those in the know about SXSW, a few questions.." by Marlowe

If you want to see the big name events, you need a badge, unless it's a surprise show by a big group and you are a member of their fan club or are in

the right place at the right time. I didn't have one, but I did have tickets to a couple of shows in advance. You have to get hotels way ahead of time and they're expensive. Book early to get any kind of deal. Things are spread out around town. Someone in a band told me he and his friends rented bikes and rode all over town from show to show, even the ones they were playing. It's much easier because a lot of the streets are closed to traffic. I loved it! The whole atmosphere is fun and there's lots of good barbeque at Stubbs and Franklins. Third Man Records will roll their truck in and have some of their smaller acts play. They'll sell collectibles she can flip for a lot of money if she isn't a collector.
