The event is double Stardust, double Candy, double XP, increased Pokemon encounters, reduced hatching distances, and reduced Buddy distances. And they released legendary Pokemon into the gyms.

        If you use a pineap on a pidgey you get 12 candy. So it can be evolved right away which will give you two more candy. -- (edited) - Krusty Jul 24, 21:23
