Not necessarily. The ME3 (Middle 3 east: Emirates, Etihad, Qatar) have trashed the ability of US3 to profitably fly a number of places.

Anything in the Middle East, India *for sure* swaths of Africa and Eastern Europe. They even sap some traffic bound for Southeast Asia.

Competition is a good thing, and DL's a bit of a hypocrite griping about the ME3 being subsidized by the government, when DL itself was subsidized through bankruptcy. But there definitely is some overlap in target markets.
