Most indications are that it is not so much the severity of the concussions, but the massive number of small traumas. Offensive lineman are among the -- (edited)

most vulnerable. How many times do you see one leave for a concussion? Rarely. It's because their helmets hit and heads get snapped back a bit on almost every play. Personally, I think wrestling is even worse. There is a kick to the head, or head snapping back when thrown into a turnbuckle, multiple times every match. Even blocked, it is small repetitive trauma.
