make things better." This was a threat to republicans who want it all and power more than anything. I think racism was a huge factor. I think fear that the message would undercut their desire for total domination was a huge factor. I think comparisons to Trump's message is frankly bizarre. His message is a) "I'll give everyone exactly what they want, and don't question how I'll do it" and b) "anyone who disagrees with me deserves to be jailed or beaten." Obama was a threat because he risked activating a middle ground. That is not at all what Trump is. 90% of candidates run on a message of change. That doesn't make them the same message.
