Dave's niece in NYC got laid off from her investor job a few weeks ago. She had bought a condo in Astoria that isn't even finished yet. But she is Canadian too (born here but left as a kid). She was here in Toronto last weekend and she's pondering selling the condo on closing (she bought new construction - she should close in September, and will make a fortune if she sells) and moving to Toronto instead.

No firm decision has been made, she's taking the summer to travel a bit in Canada and the US and make a decision.
