He actually only owns two houses. An apartment isn't a house. Also, the third one was paid with money from the sale of a house that was from his wife's side of the family. Not Bernie's money.
So, he owns a home in his home state and apartment in the city where he works half the year. He also now owns a lake house where he'll retire to when he's done. Again, that was paid for by the sale of another home that wasn't his but his wife's.
Sometimes you need more info.
