Not to discourage anybody considering a marathon but Terri (my training partner) had a rough go at the Jack and Jill Marathon on Sunday

She'd been less than thrilled with her prep as it has been really hot and humid (well for here) for at least last two months. She'd set a goal of sub 5 hours vs her best of 4:10 or so
I was able to see her splits at 10K, the half, 20 miles and finish and saw that she was progressively slowing but still finished sub 5.
Afterwards I found that she stopped at around mile 8 along with some other runners to assist a runner who had sliced her knee open down to the kneecap. That was a about a 15 min delay
Then she took a tumble at mile 19 and banged up knee as well as sliding along her left side. The course is a trail (packed dirt and/or gravel) for the entirety so that left her with bruises and road (gravel?) rash. Bloody and bruised as well as debris sticking to her, she gutted it out to finish.
