Ray Rice was a better than average back when the story broke.

Sure, there was some dropoff, but he was a shifty solid back with great hands, and good YAC. No way was he completely out of the league the first two years because he didn't have the talent to be an NFL player.
He had a bad 2013, but every Raven RB did.
