there are approximately 2 million lakes in Canada.
This is not an exaggeration. This is true.
Canada has more lakes than the rest of the world combined

The Whiteshell is a huge cottage area near Kenora, Ontario. That would likely fit the bill as "north of Wisconsin". -- nm
