Every city is different, and if you don't need this much information sorry. :-) DC and some other cities based on personal experience, but hey, stuff like this gets around, so we all know.

DC is a very bottom heavy city. The running joke is that if you are a top you have the pick of the litter. DC also tends to be a city where lots of guys that only top somehow seem to always want to bottom.

NYC, while somewhat similar to DC, has such a large population that it seems to be pretty split.

Boston = Bottoms.

Regarding set in their ways, it's a mix. Some guys are unwilling to change, so they better hope they find someone that's the opposite. Some are versatile. That said, I've know people who only hookup a certain way, but will date doing whatever. So who knows!
