Did he? I didn't see.

But I did like the little call back to Jon's discussions with Mance Rayder about pride getting in the way of doing what is right for the people you lead.

And look what that got Mance ...

In the end, I think Jon Snow is going to thread the needle and find a way to create an alliance -- through marriage or otherwise -- without the appearance of being subservient. Both of them need to get over a certain sense of pride, and that is the only way out for both of them that I can see.
