What is it with non-profits scheduling events in October and completely messing up my personal life??

For the last couple of years I've had a conflict with the Arch.Soc. county outreach day and the last day of the Hist.Soc. Barn Sale.

This year they would have conflicted but I'd already accepted an invite from a fellow Hist.Soc. member for a wine tasting fundraiser. Because of this the Hist.Soc had to change the sale date and I'll be skipping the outreach day. Meanwhile the new date for the sale is the weekend I'm flying to St. Louis.

Next year I'm looking at the Columbia River cruise which would be about $400 cheaper if I went in October rather than September.
