That's a lot to digest

I assume MLBAM will remain MLB's media arm (i.e. Content creation), but obvious all that streaming goodness is gone now.

Creating their own content was the smartest move Netflix ever made and while losing Disney will hurt, it was inevitable and their original content is going to buffer that blow. By 2020, Netflix won't be distributing anyone else's content whatsoever. They're going to be one of the big 3 or 4 players in Hollywood, along with Disney, Comcast, and Amazon. And God help Paramount, Warner Bros., Sony, and the rest of the also-rans.

Seems buying HBO isn't really an option, though, is it? I mean, Warner Bros. owns them. They're one of the all stars in their annual reports.

There's a couple of players on the sidelines right now, but we need to keep an eye on them. Those are AT&T and Verizon. Someone's going to merge with them to complete with Comcast. Maybe Netflix, maybe Disney. While Charter may be the more obvious target, they don't have the backbone infrastructure of AT&T and Verizon. It's not the last mile that buyers are looking for. It's the national backbone.
