You also have things getting moved from one app to another. Multiple shows have moved from Netflix to Hulu and it'll keep happening as deals change.

So today you could be watching NBC shows on Hulu but in the future they could make a new deal and they'll be on Amazon.
Your point about not knowing about new episodes is something I hadn't thought of but I can see it being an issue.
