Sorry that you have to go through this with your mom and with this extra stress. As a parent, I'm sure that you know that you'd be telling your kid

to live their life, to do that thing they've wanted to do even with the possibility of not being there at the end. She'd probably say you would honor her more by conquering that mountain than sitting at her bedside.
That being said, reality often isn't as we would want it to be as parents and you have the rest of your family to consider and their needs during this time. I guess all you can do is sit down with your immediate family that is going to have to deal with this and see how they feel. I don't know how easy it is even for you to postpone (it sounds like it would be difficult)...
