In response to "I'll add something else." by David

There's that, but maybe it's an opportunity to think about the situation and life and the world away from the immediate scenario?

Or maybe relief from thinking about it at all.

When I left the beach some family friends were arriving for the week. Over the past 18 months they've been checking on an elderly father twice a day, every day, and they were stressing about bringing him to the beach just to be able to watch him there. Fortunately a brother took care of the father, and they were free to finally take some time and relax.

The same thing happened to my grandfather when my grandmother was suffering from Alzheimer's. He'd never been away from her for more than a day during their 50 year marriage, but there was nothing he could do for her. He was being burdened by honoring his commitment to being her husband. But when he decided to come with us for a week at the beach, it was like that burden was lifted from him and he was truly relaxed.
