it was not all that long ago that I was in and out of the hospital for my mom, with no brothers and sisters, the burden of all decision making was on me, and I could not do anything without it being in my head.
In my scenario, I would not have gone, but if you have siblings to share the load, I think it is safe to say you can go and she will be in good hands, and hopefully she is there when you get back.
As I said in another post, every family is different.
