As my parents got older and now my Mom only, I always left each visit on good terms no matter what was going on.

My dad frustrated the shit out of me. Almost all the time toward the end. BUT!! I always said I loved him and hugged him when I left. So I would not regret something I didn't say. That has meant all the difference. Make sure you always leave with hugs and love anytime you get together.
